Almost out the door
Well this is almost it for me, I leave on Monday for the east coast, for a night of far too much drinking with friends then on to New York the following day. I’ll be gone for 50 days, far longer than I’ve had for a holiday for a looong time. The perks of being a contractor I suppose, I’ve just got to hope I get work when I get back.
Last Friday I had to farewell a good friend of mine who’s off to Osaka for the next 13 months. He’s to be the Terminator at Universal Studios. It’s not like this’ll be his first time at it either, he’ll have a blast I’m sure. He’ll spend most of his time playing Gran Turismo 5 on his PS3 no doubt. I will miss protecting him next season, he’s a damn good quarterback.
I would have preferred for him to stick around, I seem to have had a spate of people who’ve influenced me a great deal in the last 2 years pick up and either move back home (Tyson – Canada, Nic – Idaho) or off to another country and continually pester me about joining him to play football there (Darragh – Germany). I’m definitely not complaining about the latter, it’s a reminder of the things that I am still able to achieve. Still time to take him up on it too. I am fortunate to know these people, Rohan included, it’d just be nice if they’d just stop fucking moving away.
Oh well, can’t do much to stop it. I’ll just have to fly across the world to see them.
I don’t think the gravity of the whole holiday thing will hit me until I’m at the airport, ready to board my Delta flight, I’ll savor the calmness until then I suppose. I am disappointed that I won’t have internet access on this particular flight, apparently it’s due to be implemented later in the year but not now. I was dearly looking forward to calling Kieran a cunt from 35,000 feet. It’ll have to wait until I’m flying between Los Angeles and New York. I can wait, I’ll be fine.
This weekend brings about the last major club event for the Perth Blitz, the end of season wind-up. Last year it was a great bit of fun, the fact that I took out the Rookie of the Season award helped but I imagine it still would have been fun regardless. I was looking forward to going head-to-head with some awesome D-Lineman on Saturday afternoon at the All-Star Game but it’s been postponed for a couple of weeks due to logistical issues. Disappointing but I’ll just have to make it next year too. I still want my jersey however. It’s mine!
Well, I’m just finishing off the last few things before I head off home for the day and start organising for tonights club presentations. If you’re near the Northbridge Hotel tonight, we’ll be done by about 11pm, come by for a beer.
