Gravy – The Ultimate Solution
Seriously, give it some thought, how many problems can be solved by either covering or filling the problem with gravy? A meat pie, a bit bland perhaps? Cover it with gravy. A roast, cover it with gravy. Nuclear warheads? Fill them with gravy. It’s a simple solution that the UN doesn’t seem to have caught onto yet. I reckon I might get into Ban Ki-Moon’s ear and give him the heads up.
The alternative, and ultimate teammate in this situation is cream. Got a problem that can’t be solved with gravy, use cream. Full cream of course, not this light stuff. Light cream can’t be a superhero, its a proven fact.
There is no light version of gravy, its always at full strength.
Adelaide Cup BBQ
I’m fairly good, I recognised this early on in my days as a person, I like to think that I smear this goodness on all things that I come into contact with, not unlike a virus. So when I finally got around to organising a BBQ on Monday for the public holiday, it was good.
Of course, this is just me, if other’s have less of an opinion about this then so be it. All I’ll hear is, it was good. On a moderately serious note though, the afternoon was grand, lots of eating, plenty of laughing, quite a bit of running around on playgrounds and kicking footballs. All in good fun.
Cheers to everyone who took time out of their day to come down regardless of the time and to Bill for doing the cooking, once again a stellar job.
All those who didn’t come down, you missed out on the wheel of death. I’m sure Grum or others will recap this device but it is, to say the least, frightening to watch.
30 minutes in and I was fully erect
Not me, this person who reviewed the movie 300. To say I’m looking forward to this movie is a massive, massive understatement. I’ve read the graphic novel by Frank Miller and know the history of The Battle of Thermopalye of which it’s based on. I’ve read reviews, both good and bad but by far the most amusing so far has to be these two, with the latter inspiring me enough to ressurect my review section. His reviews comply with my thoughts on many of the movies I watch and he’s angry enough too.
I have watched the trailers countless times and have been waiting for the chance to pre-buy tickets to see it on opening night (April 5) so if anyone is keen to see it on opening night down at Marion or somewhere like that then let me know. I’ll be there.
Comic Book Movies
To add to my previous homo-erotic infatuation with 300 Spartan men, I’d like to comment on some comic book movies I’ve seen recently which have made an impression, good or bad.
Ghost Rider
Saw this last night actually, thought it was well done and treated the material it was created from with a good amount of respect. Wasn’t sure about Peter Fonda as Mephistopheles but he seemed to fill the role nicely at the end. A fuck-ton of things on fire throughout the movie, its a theme.
V for Vendetta
Love the graphic novel/comics its based on and equally loved the movie, I can forgive it some of its flaws just because of the sheer coolness and menacing sound of Hugo Weaving’s voice through a Guy Fawkes mask. Odd, I know.
Batman Begins
Good restart to the series, lots of people being beaten by essentially amounts to an unhinged billionaire dressed up as a bat. Not your conventional hero but what he lacks in super powers he makes up in blind rage and wanton violence. Cool car too.
Sin City
Brilliant, I’ve already made it known about my man-love for Frank Miller. He is god.
Catwoman
Ughh, bad. Horrid. Can’t get the taste out of my mouth. The less said the better.
Fantastic Four
I thought this was fantastic, I loved it. Lots of shit blowing up, excessive use of spandex and gratuitous implied nudity by Jessica Alba. Got my vote.
Hellboy
Another actor I think is undervalued in Hollywood, Ron Perlman. Equally as good as a demon in this version of the comic. Lots of cool fighting and quick wit which is a good recipe in my book.
Superman Returns
Kind of liked it, thought it wasn’t as good as it should have been. There’s a hell of a lot of material here from the comics, use some of it next time boys. It’s not that hard.
Spiderman 1,2,3
Loved the first two, looking forward with anticipation, locked in a geek like pose waiting to pounce on it and hump the third ones leg as it drops tasty morsels about Sandman, Black Cat and Venom being involved.
As you can tell, I do like comics as well. There are some genuinely brilliant writers who are involved in the comic industry. There are stacks of others which I didn’t mention which I’ve liked and a heap which are on the way out either this year or in the coming years like: Avengers, Iron Man, Batman: The Dark Knight, Hellboy 2, Fantastic Four 2, Captain America, The Flash, Luke Cage, The Punisher 2, Thor and the most anticipated on my list, Watchmen.
Not everyone likes comics but I guarantee you there’s at least one or two movie adaptations you’ve enjoyed. That’s just as good as handling the dog eared pages of a comic handed to you by a sweaty, vitamin deficient comic book geek. Just think about it.
Housekeeping
This weekend brings about the third Fatloaf Karting Bonanza, as always a lot of fun. I will deliver a recap next week when the results are in. I am also madly working on getting the new site up, my good friend Miles has just redone his and I feel inadequate being that its been almost two years since I’ve put this design up and 18months since I started working on another design. Fuck I’m slack.
Anyway, enough reading. I want a schnitzel.
Scotti’m the one that you wanted, i’m the superbeast
