Mildura may never be the same again
Part 2 friday night
its been a while since i posted Part 1 so if you cant remember whats going on read that first. then come back to this.
I chose to end the last post where i did because this is the where the weekend actually starts in preparation for the adventures of friday night…
During dinner the Hairy Lemon lads arrived outside the pub they were playing at and began unpacking their van (aka Hairy Lemon Bus) and began setting up for their gig. I decided that i had been in Victoria for way too long and hadn’t antagonised anyone yet.. this seemed like the perfect opportunity.
I put my problem across to the girls and they were quick to suggest that i should harrass the lads (probably so i wouldnt bother them) and they were also quick to make suggestions on the best way to do this. We ended up deciding to pretend we were stalkers and had followed them to Mildura, I hid the caller ID on my phone and called each of the boys as they were carrrying stuff from the bus into the pub..
Now for the full effect you must know that we were sitting about 50 metres from the bus in direct line of site and the boys couldnt spot me.. I made numerous calls to the lads usually when they had thier hands full and was able to watch the anger and frustration on their faces grow to the point where i couldnt be serious anymore and had to reveal my identity. We soon ventured down the road and said hello, the boys gave me a quick beating for stressing them out, a hug and a kiss to tell me they still love me and then started handing me equipment to carry in. Nice of them, lucky for me by the time we arrived they had just about finished unpacking.. trust me to get the timing right..
After giving the lads a quick hand set up, (or not ) i did the important thing and introduced myself to the Publican and the bar staff for the evening, ensuring i set myself up a handy network of people to get myself cheap and or free drinks from. following setting the weekend drinking network up we left the pub and headed back to the hotel to get ready for the evening adventures..
One by one we all jumped in the shower, No! not all at once, how many times do i have to tell you people that i am just friends with these girls, (and the shower cubicle was way too small for all of us to fit into at once
after a quick shower we all consulted on each others outfits for the evening ahead, i have to say i alomost felt either gay, like a chick or married im not sure, with two girls telling me what i should wear.. it all worked out in the end though with us all looking a treat. Once we were all ready Hayley called an old friend from up there to pick us up, although we were within walking distance from where the boys were playing it was best that we got picked up and driven there…
The night started of relativly slow, with a few of the yokles hanging around from their after work drinks to enjoy some of S.A’s best talent – Me of course, oh and i guess they like a bit of live music from the boys too..
By the time we arrived at the Sandbar these yokles were 3 parts pissed, mind you so was I so i wasn’t overly concerned with their dancing efforts no matter how retarded they looked
During the course of the evening i consumed approximately 14 pints of Coopers Pale Ale but im not sure, you will need to check with scott on this.. After about 6 pints i usually start to loose count, so i started messaging him each time i finished one, i thought even if he was pissed he would count the messages and give me a total the next day.. To which im pretty sure was 14..
After the Gig was finished we headed across the road to some irish pub that i cant remember the name of.. they wanted to charge us $10 entry each, I had a quick look inside and stated quite loudly to the Security guards working that they had not a hope in hell of getting $10 bucks entry fee out of us because i could clearly see it wasn’t worth that much. Little did they know that i could barely see at all because i was blind drunk at this point in time.. Needless to say they agreed with me and we went into some brief but professional haggling, it could only be likened to that of what you would see in a side street in Bali or something.. It went a little like this:
Spence:”I’m not paying ten bucks to go in there, you goys dont have a hope in hell. I can clearly see that its not that good”
Security guard:”You’re right buddy, how bout we do a deal?”
Spence:”ok, let me and my friends in for fee, and we will PAY to drink your beer!
Security guard:”how bout i let you in for half price”
Spence:”You’re dreaming mate, we’ll give you twenty bucks to let us all in”()there was about 10 of us at this point
Security guard:”done, gimme your money, get inside”
so thats what we did, went inside drank more beer, the boys gave it a good crack at catching up to my beers for the night, they didnt end up that far away as they (as most bands do) were drinking during the gig.
From what i remember we left about 3am and went in search for something to eat.. Who would have though at 3am in Mildura there would be a yiros bar open.. so the good old lamb sandwich was to be had by all..
that was about all i remember from that night.. not sure if i was violated in my sleep but i remember waking up where i was supposed to be.. i guess thats a good thing..
For now thats it.. there will be more to follow
Part 3 – Saturday
and Part 4 Sunday..
Stay tuned for as long as you can.. or check back in once a year and it will probably be here by then..
