could a goldfish destroy the world?

It’s a question that most people probably wouldn’t ask, but I feel its pertinent. Most people think that a goldfish only has a memory of a few seconds. A quick bit of googling on the topic will net you a veritable cornocopia of results. Much reading to do on the subject.

Of course, finding these results begs the question, who started this 3-second memory span rumour anyway? In my own starved for attention way I’ve come up with a theory. I believe that it was started by the goldfish themselves to perpetrate the eventual destruction of society as we know so that they can melt the polar ice caps and create a haven, a veritable atlantean wonderland for them to live in and no longer succumb to the rule of the land walkers that they’ve lived under for so long.

I think its a sound theory, not sure how Dr. Carl would feel about it though. He’s the man apparently.

Well today is quite lovely, the sun is out and its quite warm. This is in complete opposite to yesterday afternoon/evening where I was sure my car was going to blow away with the prevailing winds. I’d have to tie it down and hope it doesn’t swing around like a windsock at an airport. It’s only a small car.

Well, its official, Laura has her tattoo. The trio of myself Bill and Laura headed up to a tattoo studio in Mt Barker on Saturday afternoon to get her “inked up”. It turned out very well and considering she didn’t use any numbing cream I’m quite proud of her. She didn’t cry once. She did manage to pay out another one of this guy’s customer’s who did use numbing cream on the same area on his back when he got one done. Of course, she might have been egged on by the tattoo guy who brought the subject up initially. It’s hard to say.

Bill got some more work done too, including some amazingly detailed text on his forearm. I mean detailed by the size and straightness of it. I swear it looks like a computer typed it out. Remember this stuff is all done by hand, you can’t just stick your arm under a sewing machine type device and get it typed out for you by a machine. There’s a human element.

I was going to get another done too but on looking at it Saturday morning I decided that it wasn’t quite what I wanted and I’m continuing to work on the design for a bit and I’ll try and get it done in the next few weeks. It’s going to be permenant so I figure being pedantic about it isn’t a bad thing.

Spence and I did our state championship thing on Sunday too, it was a late entry effort for us, we completely forgot it was on. I organised a 5 man team fairly quickly and roped Spence in for doubles with myself as well. We got them out all on the same day so there’s no need to do any more when the next weekend of events rolls past. I should have qualified for Master’s but I won’t know until the event has finished.

It’s only a few days now until the Go Karting event of the century. The Fatloaf Karting Bonanza, its shaping up to be pretty busy. With the late withdrawal of a team and a couple of lineup changes the teams are quite varied and interesting to say the least. It also looks like there might be another team or two added to the grid courtesy of Spence. So the mighty mook group may have a fight on their hands to make sure the title stays with one of their own rather than an outsider. Makes for an interesting race.

A friend of mine is quite ill at the moment, I hope she gets better soon, this is a feeble attempt at wishing her well. I’m sure she’ll read this eventually and then subsequently give me shit about it.

Its almost home time, I’m off to do something that looks like work.
