Remember Me?

Well, it’s been a long while since the front page of fatloaf (or, indeed, the results section) was graced with my divine presence… Fear not, however. Eeyore reports are in the pipeline, I just can’t be arsed publishing them yet.
So, now, let’s see. What’s been happening in my world?
The past couple of months have been quite busy for me. Way back in early July, I visited the slopes of Mt Buller for what would turn out to be a lovely skiing trip. It didn’t start that way, of course, with a 14-hour bus ride in the company of rowdy schoolchildren, followed by a 5 hour wait for our cabin to be vacated (by the owners, as it turns out). Still, things quickly picked up from there. The cabin facilities were excellent, the weather gave us snowstorms on the first day and night, followed by sunshine for the rest of the week (ie. Perfect for skiing), and apart from the fact that I was suffering the effects of a throat infection and a strange tingling in my left hand, things were quite peachy.

Upon returning from the snow and feeling a little worried about the fact that I still couldn’t feel my fingers and had no strength in my left arm, I visited a physiotherapist, Matt. A likely lad who informed me I’ve injured my rotator cuff and pinched a nerve in my neck. A month on and things are slowly improving. It technically hasn’t stopped me playing any sport, which is good. I’d have gone crazy if I couldn’t make an embarrassment of myself on a weekly basis in some sort of sporting context.

Having a working vehicle with which to transport myself both to, and, indeed, fro, is a long-awaited and welcome change, after I finally got my car fixed. Now it just needs about a year’s worth of maintenance done to everything bar the engine, and things will be just rosy. It’s just nice to have it on the road… I’ve owned the thing since December 2003, and driven it for a combined total of 5 months.

I’m looking forward to spectating at this weekend’s fatloaf karting bonanza™, obviously I’d have preferred to be a driver, but I just wasn’t offered enough money to be on Chris’ team. It promises to be a fine event, with much in the way of pre-race-eating, pre-, during-, and post-race sledging, and post-race-going-home. Exciting stuff.

I feel so much better having got all this off my chest, so I think I’ll go back into hibernation for a while. Keep watching the results section. Not because I’ll be putting the Eeyore results up, more because it’s amusing to me to think that you’d be sitting at home clicking ‘refresh’ on your browser every 10 seconds, waiting in vain hope.
