everybody loves a bonanza

Personally, I’m a fan. Bonanza’s bring people together, in the times of mining for gold a Bonanza signified the finding of a large vein of gold or ore. I think it applies here fairly well. It’s possible I could be drunk though.

It’s amazing how many people don’t want your help when you say to them “There’s no way I can help you with this problem, I’m far too drunk”, especially if you’re at work.

Just to clarify, I haven’t been drinking, I’m sitting at my desk whiling away the hours before I go home for the day. Hopefully it won’t be a long one, I’ve got important TV to watch and a futon to recline on. I’ve only done a limited amount of the reclining/lazing combination this week. There’s some catching up to do.

I got a call from PJ last Saturday morning pleading with me to go and straighten him up in the fashion department, apparently it looks like I know what I’m doing. Obviously the facade is working. We wandered around Tea Tree Plaza for a couple of hours and I made a general fool of PJ in the process as he purchased pretty much everything I put in front of him, he did look pretty good in the choices though, Kylie, you can thank me later. Or now, which ever’s easiest.

After Paul had been tszuj’d, I headed off to a bit of an indoor rock climbing excursion with the gym people and damn if it wasn’t a very cool event. I spent a good two hours of muscle tearing, finger destroying, joint mashing fun climbing walls of all things. Not to say I haven’t done it before, its just been a few years since I’d done it. Didn’t take too long to get back into the swing of things though, I’ll be going back soon I think.

Laura joined us for dinner afterwards as we all headed into the city for a spot of asian cuisine. The East Taste Cafe on Gouger Street was the target and it was mighty fine. I’ve been there a few times and it has never failed to be tasty. We had a wide variety of meats and/or vegetables but the most amusing part was when the duck was brought out and Laura refused to eat any after one of the other guys started making quacking noises. Funny stuff. I got hit a few times shortly after that. It was worth it.

After spending a week at my sister’s place while she was in Perth, it was good to get home on Sunday, I cleaned up a bit and then headed off to play a bit of basketball with PJ, Gav, Boy and Kieran. All in all a bit of uncoordinated fun. Watching them try and play a sport which they plainly had little concept in playing was far too amusing to pass up. While Kieran actually plays and I’ve played on and off for the past 10 years the other three have probably played less than they’ve competed in the nudie run at the New Years parties. This continued for a while, PJ changed the rules of play a few times so that he could win, that didn’t help though, he still lost. We ventured back to his abode for some pizza and 80′s trivia which we all know everyone loves.

Trivial Pursuit 80′s Edition is a winner of a buy.

With another week of lates almost done and hopefully the same goes for this cold I’ve been dealing with for a fortnight, I’m definitely looking forward to the weekend. The Rally of SA is on this weekend in the hills as is the Barossa Cup, a bowling tournament. I’m headed off to the Rally in the morning for a bit (I’m doing some behind the scenes work in the service area) then off to Barossa to try and win some money. I think a schnitzel afterwards is important to finish off the day. If I don’t make the cut for Sunday, then I’m planning on heading up to Mallala with Greg for the Drift Nationals. So all in all it’s looking like a fairly busy weekend again, not surprising really.

I always thought weekends were for relaxing, not cramming as much as possible into two days so that you’re trashed on Monday. I must be going about this the wrong way.

Anyway, I’m off to sit at my desk and read web pages. Wait, I’m already there.
