I’m not referring to Spence’s love life, but Malaysian soap opera’s. They’re fantastic to watch, very dramatic, lots of fights, extended deep looks into nothing and of course conflict. Always with the conflict. Normally its the father dating the wifes second cousin who then falls pregnant only to find out its actually his brother’s instead, who happens to also be cheating with his wife. Are you keeping up?

Of course its all played out in the somewhat humourous hindi style yet they manage to not break out into song at any time. Which can get quite distracting in a standard bollywood movie.

Anyway, on my overseas jaunt this week I have relaxed a lot, drunk a reasonable amount, spent an inhumane amount of time watching National Geographic and of course catching up on the daily dose of soapies I can’t understand. Although I generally get the gist.

On Wednesday I went on a jungle walk for a couple of hours, the guide was cool, leaving out little bits of information which could be vital for survival, like when we get to the end of the very rickety bridge leading out about 50m off the beach to be careful, its not very sturdy. Of course, this was fairly obvious but it still would have been nice to hear from a local. The walk went for about 2 hours and we passed through quite a bit of territory which contained many monkeys and vine like trees. I think it would also be fair to say that it was the mosquito’s turf and we were definitely invading it. They seemed to think we were there for a rumble as all they wanted to do was fight. Invariably I ended up with the bites, they suffered a few casualties but at no time did they retreat to regroup. Very cool stuff though, we went through a fishing village and some cool scenery as well. I’m sure I would have seen more had I not been worried about where my next step was to be going. I tell you what though, the ground in Malaysia looks the same as it does anywhere else.

I hooked myself up with a very cool camera on Thursday, bargain too. The prices here rock for electronic goods and I’ll be damned if I’m not going to take advantage of it. I might get a PDA too, not sure yet. I went and got myself sized up for a new suit too, a nice pin stripe version. Very classy, some shirts will be in the mix too I just have to get fitted tomorrow. Ã� needed something for this year’s formal dinner with KAZ (my employer) and this should fit the bill nicely.

I’m gonna go find myself a seat at the bar, the grand prix starts soon and I don’t want to miss the last round.
